What is Full Spectrum?

The term “Full-Spectrum” indicates that the product contains a full range of cannabinoids beyond just CBD that are naturally occurring in the cannabis plant. (Refer to graph.) These products also provide a variety of essential vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, proteins, chlorophyll, terpenes, and fiber. All compounds work jointly to enhance the potential effects to be felt from the plant. This phenomenon is known as “the entourage effect.” Full-spectrum products are typically high in CBD and extremely low in THC (less than 0.3%).

Contrarily, Broad-Spectrum CBD does not contain any THC. After the initial extraction, that part of the plant is entirely removed, which makes it more approachable for consumers who want to completely avoid THC. These products still produce an entourage effect, but without the THC, which may result in a less effective experience and even possibly require a higher dosage to achieve desired results.

CBD Isolate is a crystalline solid or powder. It is the purest form of the material produced by removing all other compounds found in the hemp plant resulting in an isolate containing 99% CBD. Neither form should carry a distinct odor or taste. It was once believed that isolated CBD was more effective than full-spectrum CBD. However, new studies reveal the opposite. Full-spectrum has proven to be more effective due to the interaction and synergistic effects of a complete cannabinoid/compound profile.
