Delta-8

Delta-8, or Delta-8-tetrahydrocannabinol, is a psychoactive cannabinoid from the cannabis plant. It’s an isomer of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol but of slightly less potency.

Delta-8 has neuroprotective, analgesic, antiemetic, anxiolytic, and orexigenic properties. As a result, people suffering from various ailments may see value in consuming products containing Delta-8-THC.

In fact, studies have shown that it might be helpful as a potential treatment option for corneal injuries, glaucoma, and nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy.

Even if you don’t have any of these issues, though, it’s worth being aware that there are an abundance of products featuring Delta-8 that might be worth a closer look, such as these below.

Delta-8 Gummies

Even if you’ve never tried Delta-8 before, the thought of consuming it in a delicious and discreet CBD gummy might be enough to convince you. CBD gummies are available in a variety of flavors and come with full-spectrum CBD with up to 0.3% Delta-8-THC, which may assist with pain, inflammation, anxiety, and more.

CBD gummies come in one-month supplies of 1,500mg with delicious gluten-free and dairy-free flavors like peach rings, neon bears, blue raspberry, and more.

Delta-8 Vape Oil

Many people transitioned to vaping as a way to give up smoking. Manufacturers developed vape oils using food-grade ingredients, then paired them with vape pens and pods.

However, in a short space of time, we’ve been able to advance even more. Manufacturers have now taken those same food-grade vape ingredients and combined them with Delta-8.

The result is a vape oil that may be able to provide relief from aches, pains, inflammation, depression, and anxiety. This is all thanks to Delta-8’s ability to connect to CB1 and CB2 receptors to promote a full-body effect.

Disposable Vapes and Vape Cartridges

Vape cartridges are equally as desirable as vape oil to vapers. They contain 95% Delta-8-THC in a glass cartridge for superior performance and taste.

With flavor-rich terpenes and superior Delta-8 distillate, it’s hard to look past Delta-8 disposable vapes and vape cartridges for pain relief and a variety of ailments. Delta-8, with its similarities to Delta-9, is proving to be a favorite with seasoned and beginner vapers alike.

Unlike Delta-9, though, Delta-8 in vapes and vape cartridges leaves you feeling clear-headed, relaxed, and energized. You can also explore various flavor options to find which one you enjoy the most.

What Does the Research Say About Delta-8?

As of 2021, no extensive clinical studies have been published solely on Delta-8-THC – at least not according to the NIH database. However, several smaller ones have been showing promising results.

It has been reviewed for glaucoma, chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV), and corneal injury. It has also been looked at in in-vitro studies to study its effects on oral cancer cells and cultured neuroblastoma cells. According to those studies, some Delta-8 photooxygenation products have been found to have biological activity in-vitro.

Is Delta-8-THC Legal?

Answering the question of whether or not Delta-8 is legal is not a simple yes or no answer. When the 2018 United States farm bill was signed in December 2018, Delta-8 products from compliant sources like derived cannabidiol extracts and industrial hemp were able to be sold by digital and bricks and mortar retailers.

These products included Delta-8 edibles, atomizer cartridges with cannabis-derived terpenes, and unrefined distillate. They are marketed as federally legal alternatives to Delta-9-THC. However, the legality of Delta-8 has been disputed between the Hemp Industries Association and Drug Enforcement Administration.

Is Delta-8-THC Legal in Texas?

Thanks to the Texas House Bill 1325 signed into law in June 2019 by Greg Abbott, hemp and any parts of the plants – including the seeds, extracts, cannabinoids, isomers, acids, derivatives, and salts of isomers is legal. They simply have to have a Delta-9-THC concentration of no more than 0.3% on a “dry weight basis.”

How Does Delta-8-THC Differ from Delta-9-THC?

The general population isn’t made up of scientists, so not everyone will know how these two cannabinoids from the cannabis plant compare. If you look at them at a molecular level, they aren’t much different.

The most notable difference is that a chemical bond is present on the eighth carbon rather than the ninth – hence the names Delta-8 and Delta-9.

It also appears that Delta-8 has some of the psychoactivity that Delta-9 has, but not all. Those who consume Delta-8 gummies and other edibles, or use Delta-8 vape oil and vape cartridges, note a smooth, mild high with less sedative effects. They also note that, unlike Delta-9, Delta-8 doesn’t make them feel paranoid or anxious.
